Hello Kitty in Space
Remember the experiment “The effects of altitude on air pressure and temperature” by a 7th grader that sent Hello Kitty to space in a rocket? The talented teenager has now been declared one of four top award winners at Cornerstone Christian School’s seventh-grade science fair. An award well deserved by 13 year old Lauren Rojas who is one of two winners in the physical science category for her weather balloon’s 90-minute test of the effects of air pressure and temperature. The popularity of the project video gained popularity and also received national and international media attention, including from Canada, India and the Discovery Channel.

Portraits Made from Chewing Gum
Ms. Mateeva needed over 1,000 pieces of chewed gum just for the portrait of Apple founder Steve Jobs, so she asked her husband, her relatives and some of her friends to help her out. Even if the donated pieces of gum were hard, they contained the needed saliva enzyme, so they just need some time in the microwave before being stuck on to the canvas. Each of her chewing gum artworks contains the DNA and saliva of at least a couple of dozen people, and Anna molded and placed every single piece with her bare hands. However, the artist told The View she is not at all disgusted by the process, as she sees herself having to cope with the same issues as a dentist or a surgeon.

The Kidz Breakfast in Norfolk, UK
The Kidz Breakfast, available at the Jesters Diner in Norfolk, UK, isn't on the children's menu. The meal got its name because it weighs as much as a baby. If you can eat this massive version of the traditional full English breakfast in one hour, it's free:
It's called that because it weighs the same as a small child. Consisting of a dozen sausages, 12 bacon rashers and enough eggs to be produced from a coop of chickens in a week, Jesters Diner's fry-up in Great Yarmouth contains more than 6,000 calories and weighs in at 9lb (4.08kg).
But despite hundreds being sold after it was first put on the menu 18 months ago, only one person has managed to eat "the baby". The restaurant "invites contestants to eat the breakfast in 60 minutes, with no additional help, to get it free of charge. Its price if you fail is £15." The restaurant acknowledges that offering it is a stunt: "It is what it is. It was done as a laugh and 99% of the population understands that."

According to CDC, vegetables are the biggest cause of food-borne illness
Good news for anyone who hates vegetables, or just wants to shut up their smug vegan friends! A new study by the Center for Disease Control (CDC) found that the majority of food-borne illnesses come from green vegetables, not meat or dairy products. Take that, vegetables!
The study found that 51% of the 9.6 million cases of food-borne illnesses were traced to contaminated plants, while all meat and poultry combined came in at a mere 22%. Leafy greens themselves cause 23% of the illnesses, which include the norovirus that causes the stomach flu.
You shouldn’t really stop eating vegetables. The untainted ones are good for you, and some are even not gross. It’s also worth noting that even though you’re more likely to get sick from a vegetable than any other food, the particularly nasty and deadly illnesses are still more commonly found in things like under-cooked chicken.
The bigger lesson here is that if you don’t want to get sick you should make sure you’re getting food from safe sources, and that you wash and cook everything thoroughly. If you do want to get to sick though, go eat a bunch of vegetables. I hear they’re terrible for you!

Vodka in a Box
Boxes have once again used their refinement-sucking power to make booze totally unclassy. This time the victim is vodka, with the box outbreak taking place somewhere in Romania. Since these are just pics, there’s no word on whether the cardboard epidemic is contained or whether it will spread into the liquor stores and nightclubs of surrounding countries.

Ramen Flavoured Ice Cream
Got a little riddle for you: How do you make the most convenient convenience store food even easier? Eliminate the need to chew. Perfect for babies, old people and the terminally underpaid, miso ramen-flavored ice cream is apparently very real and, yes, even in Japan, very, very odd. Spotted at Namja Town, an indoor theme park in Tokyo, this instant wax and MSG-inspired concoction “kinda tastes like some weird peanut butter,” and while not necessarily bad, isn’t necessarily good either.
