Plea of pizza by a little girl with cancer

Hazel, nicknamed “Hazelnut”, was diagnosed with a High-Risk, Stage 3 Neuroblastoma on April 24, 2013 and is now receiving 18 months of treatment at Children’s Hospital in Los Angeles. Earlier today, with the help of her family, she used tape to put up a sign in her window reading “Send Pizza” along with her room number. The sign was spotted by a Redditor who posted it to the site. Within an hour it made the front page where it was seen by millions and many, many pizzas were ordered. The hospital has issued a statement thanking donors, but says no more pizzas are needed.

Paralysed Claire Lomas completes London Marathon

Ms Lomas has walked around two miles a day of the 26.2-mile route, cheered on by husband Dan, mother Joyce and 13-month-old daughter Maisie.

The 32-year-old, from Eye Kettleby, near Melton Mowbray, Leicestershire, was left paralysed from the chest down following a horse riding accident in 2007.

Annie Clark, 7, a first-grader at Wilson Christian Academy in West Mifflin, is a hard-working and determined student who makes a point of learning from her mistakes and strives for perfection in her work.

Amazing dog saves a little girl's life everyday

Everyone knows that dog is man’s best friend. For 2-year-old Alida Knobloch, her dog Mr. Gibbs is more than just a friend, he’s a true life-saver. Knobloch has a rare disease called neuroendocrine hyperplasia of infancy, a disorder which occurs in children.

People with NEHI have a condition in which diseased portions of the lung filter oxygen through extra layers of cells, making it harder for the afflicted to breathe properly and get enough oxygen into the lungs.

When Mr. Gibbs is put in the red service animal vest, which has pockets on either side for small oxygen tanks, he follows Alida everywhere, providing a lifeline between her and the supply of air she needs to breathe properly. Mr. Gibbs is trained to follow her in any situation, climbing up playground equipment and going down slides with her, and he follows orders well, though the challenge is to ensure Mr. Gibbs takes Alida as his primary person.

Matthew Logelin, the blogger and author of New York Times bestseller Two Kisses for Maddy: A Memoir of Loss and Love, which details the tragic death of his wife Liz Logelin, who passed away just 27 hours after the birth of their first child, Madeline.

Logelin wrote on his blog that he was surprised to discover his three-year-old daughter was "a total tomboy," and that while he was prepared to teach her about sports and fishing and so forth, he found himself completely at a loss when she professed her love for things like Star Wars and comic book superheroes.

Logelin decided to take Maddy to consult their local comic book retailer. He was taken aback by Maddy's ferocity for the material, and they sat together in Secret Headquarters' exceptionally comfy leather chairs and read comics together for the next 35 minutes. Because Maddy had so many questions about the characters on every page, Logelin's resolved to learn as much as he can about comics for his daughter.

"So now I'm trying learn as much as I can about comic books and superheroes so I can be a better father. But just when I think i've figured things out, I'm reminded that gender identification is malleable and our assumptions are bullsh*t..."
